Herpes suppression therapy- who it's for
If you already know that you have herpes, our private doctors can offer you a range of different treatments including
herpes suppression therapy. Herpes suppression therapy is for patients who already know that they have herpes and who
experience numerous herpes outbreaks a year. Someone who has experienced five or more herpes outbreaks in the last year is
most likely to benefit from herpes suppression therapy. Suppression therapy aims to prevent outbreaks from occuring.
Herpes suppression therapy- how it works
In the consultation one of our doctors will ask you about your herpes. Depending upon your personal circumstances, the
doctor will advise you on whether herpes suppression therapy is appropriate. If it is appropriate, the doctor will take some
baseline blood tests and prescribe treatment. Someone who is on herpes suppression therapy needs to take herpes treatment
every day for a sustained period of time and for at least three months.
Herpes suppression therapy- aftercare
A patient on herpes suppression therapy needs to have a follow-up appointment every three months. The ultimate aim of
suppression therapy is to bring the herpes under control to the extent that the patient can stop the suppression therapy.
